Mr Tom Higgin’s visit to Moycarkey National School 29/1/13 3rd to 6th class and green school committee members attended a talk in the school hall today about the source of water in Moycarkey, water treatment in the area and water conservation ideas. The talk was given by Tom Higgins who works with the water treatment programme in the area. In the olden days, the people of Moycarkey used the pump across the road from the school to get water. Cumann na mBunscol 2012

    In football this year Moycarkey National School entered 4 Cumann na mBunscol competitions. The boys and girls had both Under 13 and Under 11 teams. The Under 11 teams had their competitions in Blitz format in October. Both teams equipt themselves very well in their respective competitions with the girls making it all the way to the Blitz final before being narrowly defeated while the highlight for the boys was  a victory over neighbours Two Mile Borris in a Battle of the Parish. Green School News

This year, the school will be working towards our third Green Flag. This year’s  theme is Water.  A committee has been set up with representatives from 1st to 6th class. The flag focuses on water conservation in school while revising the two previous flags, litter and recycling and energy.

Cross Country 2012

Last Wednesday, the school took part in the annual Cross Country Championships in Thurles. We had great success winning team gold in 3rd and 4th class boys and 5th and 6th class boys.
