Green School News

This year, the school will be working towards our third Green Flag. This year’s  theme is Water.  A committee has been set up with representatives from 1st to 6th class. The flag focuses on water conservation in school while revising the two previous flags, litter and recycling and energy.

Peace Convention Choir Competition

The School Choir are busy practising for an upcoming competition which be held in Tipperary Town in November(date to be confirmed). The choir must perform three songs, each with a theme of peace. It promises to be a great school event.

Cross Country 2012

Last Wednesday, the school took part in the annual Cross Country Championships in Thurles. We had great success winning team gold in 3rd and 4th class boys and 5th and 6th class boys. School Tour 2012

The pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th class went to Cork for their school tour on June 1st. The children went bowling first in Cork city. Following that, we travelled to Cobh where we went on the the Titanic Walking Experience around Cobh town. 3rd and 4th Class County Futsal Champions 2011

Recently our 3rd and 4th class boys competed in the annual FAI Futsal County Championship. Futsal is the offical FIFA version of indoor soccer. On the day there were 9 teams all viaing for the title of ‘County Champions’ and the standard was very high. Moycarkey started in a group of 3 teams along with Ardfinnan N.S. and Leugh N.S. Moycarkey played a very disciplined style of football and navigated their way into the semi finals after 3 wins and 1 draw, conceeding no goals along the way. Moycarkey N.S. First Win in Under 11 Schools Championship by John Kirwan

It was the day of the U-11 Football County Final. This was contested between two strong teams, Ardfinnan N.S. and Moycarkey N.S.. The final took place at the Moyle Rovers GAA pitch on a wet and blustery day. The game threw in and Ardfinnan set the pace with 3 early points. Two of the points were scored due to loose marking by Moycarkey.
