City of Fate

Over September and October the children in 6th class read the novel ‘City of Fate’ by Nicola Pierce. This novel is based during the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942 and centres around the experiences of two groups of characters at this time. The children really enjoyed reading this novel and learning about the battle and the lives of people during the battle and it was fantastic news when we were invited into Thurles Library on October 7th to meet the author. Gaelic Games Promotion Day

Thursday 2nd October the boys in 5th and 6th class were invited into Semple Stadium Thurles for a Gaelic Games promotion day in association with Thurles CBS. Children from the catchment area of Thurles CBS were invited in for an action packed day. The day began with a tour of the stadium where the children were given a little history and background information about different areas of the stadium as well as the opportunity to visit the Tipperary Team changing room. Cross Country 2014

Cross Country 2014 On Wednesday 1st October over 70 boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class in Moycarkey National School took part in the annual County Tipperary Primary Schools’ Cross Country Championships. As with previous years it took place at the Crokes Athletic Club in Thurles. The weather stayed fine and all our athletes, after a month of training, gave it their best on the day. The highlight of the day for the school was the victory of Adam O’ Dwyer in the 5th &6th Class Boys Large School Competition. Moycarkey-Borris U14 Panel Visit

Last Friday was a very proud day for Moycarkey National School. Some members of the  Moycarkey-Borris U14 Panel came to visit the school during assembly on Friday. Some members of the panel included past pupils of our school. They came with an array of silverware that they had won during the year.
