The Parent’s Council are happy to report that the Cookery Demonstration which took place in the Horse & Jockey Hotel on the 25th of November last was a great success and we have now raised the money needed to fund the Literacy Lift Off Programme. I like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in the Parents Council that helped organise, run and supported this major event and also a big thank you to Sean Ryan our camera man on the night and Will Hourihan our sound man. Recently our 3rd and 4th class boys competed in the annual FAI Futsal County Championship. Futsal is the offical FIFA version of indoor soccer. On the day there were 9 teams all viaing for the title of ‘County Champions’ and the standard was very high. Moycarkey started in a group of 3 teams along with Ardfinnan N.S. and Leugh N.S. Moycarkey played a very disciplined style of football and navigated their way into the semi finals after 3 wins and 1 draw, conceeding no goals along the way. It was the day of the U-11 Football County Final. This was contested between two strong teams, Ardfinnan N.S. and Moycarkey N.S.. The final took place at the Moyle Rovers GAA pitch on a wet and blustery day. The game threw in and Ardfinnan set the pace with 3 early points. Two of the points were scored due to loose marking by Moycarkey.
