Pottery with Fin O’ Hara
For 6 weeks before Halloween our school was lucky enough to have Mr. Fin O’ Hara come to us and do pottery with all the children in the school. Each week Fin taught us how to work with clay to create many different pieces including clay faces/heads, collectors and holders of various items, large pots for each room and individual pieces. Each week we learned different things and as the weeks went on we got better and better at working with the clay. Here are some pictures of us working with Fin.

For the rest of the month we have Múinteoir Pat Molloy teaching our class. Pat is in his final year in Mary Immaculate College, training to be a Primary school teacher. Pat went to school here when he was younger. Pat plays hurling and football with Moycarkey Borris GAA and sometimes with hurling with Tipperary. We are having a great time with Pat teaching us and learning lots. He brought us on a tour to the Rock of Cashel which was great fun and very interesting.

On the 20th of October 2011 Moycarkey N.S. took part in the Under 11 Roinn C football blitz in Drombane. The squad was made up of the following players, Colin Hartigan, Dylan Shaw, Rhys Shelly, Seán Kavanagh, Stephen Fitzpatrick, Daniel Brown, Dylan Stapleton, Dean O’ Brien, Kieran Carew, Brian O’ Callaghan, John Coffey and Kyle Shelly. Our coach was our teacher Mr. White. First off we took on Upperchurch N.S.. It was a close first half. In teh second half we managed to seal the win by 5 points. Firstly let me thank everyone who supported our cake sale, all the helpers on the day both parents & students and to all who made the lovely buns and cakes. It was a great success and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of your help. We are organising a cookery extravaganza in the Horse & Jockey on the 25th of November at 7:30pm. Anne Neary from Ryeland House will be demonstrating how to prepare two starters, main meal and two desserts for Christmas. She will also be showing how to make punch.
